Giddyup Britney

When I woke up this morning I had no idea what this evening would have in store for me. I did, however, know that I wanted to incorporate some of my leftover apple bran muffin into breakfast. I crumbled about half of my leftover muffin over a bowl of 0% Fage and sliced banana. I also added a sprinkle of sliced almonds.

Remember the other day when I said Bella loved bags? I caught her snoozing on my gym bag this morning.

For lunch I had a veggie BLT on sprouted grain bread and a side of strawberries.

And for dessert I had a chocolate square....and a Britney Spears concert ticket! I made a last minute decision to buy a ticket to Britney's concert tonight. I just couldn't pass it up!

My plan was to go for a run, then go to yoga, then grab a bite at Dandelion before heading to the concert venue. In between running and yoga I had the last bit of my muffin topped with a smear of freshly ground cashew butter. This was sooooo good. I must get another one of those muffins again soon.

After 90 minutes of yoga I got a giddyup wrap from Dandelion. It was delicious, as usual!

And then I got to watch a fantastic show! It was like a glamorous hybrid of a pop concert and cirque du soleil. Regardless of your personal opinion of Britney Spears, this was a well produced and very entertaining show.

I obeyed the rules and never used my flash.

Now I'm pooped! It's time for bed.

Kundalini Wednesday

I ran a pleasant 4 miles first thing this morning and then headed to the yoga studio for a 90 minute Kundalini class. It was my first experience with Kundalini yoga and it was wild! It felt like a private class since there were only two of us and the teacher. My favorite part of the class was the ego eradicator with fire breath! Crazy stuff!

I wasn't hungry for breakfast this morning. All I wanted was coffee. Even after running and yoga I didn't want anything to eat. I grabbed a coffee on my way home from yoga.

I didn't get hungry until 2:30 pm! I was ready to EAT when I finally did get hungry. I had a veggie burger with lettuce tomato and onion on a sprouted grain bun with an apple on the side.

And for dessert I had a diced plum over cottage cheese.

And for my REAL dessert I had a square of dark chocolate with a teaspoon of almond butter and a cup of tea.

Chris called me requesting Outback for dinner so I met him there around 8:00 pm. I inhaled my house salad (no croutons, dressing on the side) before I even thought about a picture! And I forgot my camera at home, so these dinner shots are courtesy of Chris's blackberry.

I passed on the bread and the bloomin' onion, but I did order veggie pasta.

I ate nearly all of the veggies and about half of the pasta. Here's the after shot.

When we got home I had a nightcap of an ounce of toffee liqueur.

Another Rest Day

I decided to skip my run this morning to give myself another day of active rest. Since my yoga class wasn't until noon, I had a bowl of Optimum Slim topped with banana, blueberries, almonds & 1% milk shortly after getting up.

I promise there is cereal hidden under everything.

At noon I went to a yoga studio for a 75 minute class that got me nice and sweaty! I stopped by a local coffee house for an iced coffee right after class.

Then on my way home I stopped by a vegetarian restaurant and got two vegetable rolls with peanut dipping sauce and a side of quinoa to go.

A few hours later I was feeling snacky so I had a yogurt.

While making dinner my hunger really kicked in and I had a handful of pretzels and a handful of nuts. I was too busy making dinner to stop and photograph the snacking.

For dinner I made a vegetarian BLT with soy bacon on sprouted grain toast.

And a small cup of vegetarian french onion soup.

With kale chips on the side.

And a tired pup!

Run, Yoga, Eat, Work

My husband and I went for a leisurely 3 mile run before he had to jump in the shower to rush to work. I love running with my husband because we always seem to have great conversations about the future and what's going on in our lives.

Since I have the luxury of a flexible schedule and working west coast hours, I decided to extend my run by doing another 2 miles at race pace. I kicked it up the last 200 meters and really got my heart pumping! After a quick shower, I darted over to my local Y for a yoga class. On my way home from yoga I stopped by Starbucks and got a latte to go with my cashew cookie Larabar.

Ingredients: Cashews & Dates = YUM

Now, for some strange reason, I'm actually EXCITED to tackle my work to-do list. I love it when I'm motivated!
